A Short Story Noteworthy of Telling

WebSiteCenter.com (WebSiteCenter, Inc.) was founded, created and established by the husband and wife team of Eric and Patricia Tan dating back to March, 1998. Our initial purpose was to serve the online needs of local businesses of nearby local high-desert cities of Southern California i.e. Oak Hills, Apple Valley, Victorville, Phelan and Hesperia. Our move to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2000 from Oak Hills, California was more for family reasons than a business one. The growing business population of Las Vegas did helped sway our decision.

It all started with the birth of our daughter that placed tremendous pressure to do more than going to work 9-5 everyday to a job that we did well but were not entirely satisfied with. With Eric's experience on computers dating back to 1982 working on word processing applications such as Wang OIS and NBI 2000, that he began to see the Internet's World Wide Web as being a big part of the near future. Luckily, both have been going to community colleges on a regular basis taking selective classes related to business development including accounting and business management with emphasis on web development. At first, their business was under the name of HD-2000 (since the year 2000 was only a couple of years away) and HD standing in for High-Desert or High-Definition (even before high definition was a word), was a name they were happy content to work with.

The story to be told is when Eric came up with the domain name WebSiteCenter.com. From 1982 through the early part of 1990s, Eric has worked on Word Processing Centers for various engineering departments as well as numerous major Los Angeles, California law firms, thus came the idea of a centralized web site design center namely WebSiteCenter.com. When he first tried to register the domain name, it stated that the domain name is already registered. Much to his dissapoinment, he let go of the idea. About two weeks later, he had a revelation for another ideal domain name WebSiteCenter.com (not realizing that it was the same name that he tried two or three weeks earlier) and checked the domain name registrar and miraculously, it was available for registration! He quickly realizes the miracle because he immediately remembers that he already tried to register this domain name previously but for some reason, he states that "something urged him to try it again". He says that it is a miracle because he knows that it is all part of a divine plan that God has in store for him. That his purpose in life is to help others achieve their goals and dreams of owning and running a business online.

It’s not hard to say what tomorrow has in store for us - even though all the arrows are pointing in the right or positive direction - like anything, there's always a hint of uncertainly. We only know one thing that we can be sure of and that is our story will continue to be what we dream it to be.
